The last couple of months I've changed my daily life & routine: I left my full-time position in Shanghai's corporate event industry in early May and went from everyday-office-worker to free-bird-freelancer. I have never felt better. Not only because I'm not forced to go into the same office every single day, busy or not, and staying there until its "legal" to leave. But also because I've been working full-time on an exciting project that has my full personal interest: blogging.
Together with an amazing friend and partner I've developed the Shanghai Blogger Society. A platform that collects bloggers in Shanghai and not least: connects them with readers and businesses.
My partner Nando is the technical genius behind the main USP ("unique selling point" to use a term from my business school) of our Shanghai Bloggers society: The Shanghai Bloggers App.
The Shanghai Bloggers App allows expats and blog readers in Shanghai to read, like & share blog posts from their favorite Shanghai Bloggers ON-THE-GO. It also allows Shanghai Bloggers like myself to share my own Shanghaihabits posts through the app and directly to Facebook, Wechat & lots of other platforms. An A-M-A-Z-I-N-G tool with an amazing design aiming to make "Life" simpler & clearer for bloggers and blogger fans in Shanghai.
Based on his girlfriend's Shanghai-based blog: Aura Fitness Studio, Nando came up with the idea for the app earlier this year. He contacted me to get my input and thoughts.. and as I was head over heals about this idea I quickly came up with the vision of making an entire Shanghai Blogging Society and launching it with style.
The idea for Shanghai Bloggers Society was born and me and Nando have been working closely together to realize Shanghai Bloggers.
The last months, we've been meeting up with the bloggers you now find in the Shanghai Bloggers App to introduce them to the project and get them onboard.
We've been meeting up with all partners in the Shanghai Bloggers App to "sell" the idea to them and discuss how they could support our launch and become partners in the app including giving exclusive deals to our app users & blog readers through the app.
And we've been planning the Shanghai Bloggers Launch Party that took place Thursday last week:
A massive celebration party on top of Shanghai, including media, bloggers, partners & Shanghai guests. A party that started at 6pm with a media session during a beautiful sunset and went on until 2-3am at the rooftop terrace of The Cut Shanghai, also now known as the location of the Best Thursday Party in Shanghai.
Though I've officially left a secure monthly payment roll, I've never felt more alive, more excited & more convinced that the right thing to do in this life is to follow your interests, your intuition & your heart. After this launch, where the best of my Shanghai came together, I can not wait to build the next step of Shanghai Bloggers. And I can not wait for growing the concept, the idea and the model into something bigger!
