As we were in Harbin on my actual Birthday I really wanted to do a causal dinner with some friends in Shanghai. The 31st of January - the Saturday after my birthday, was the day my sister turned 30 and she was planning a biiiig birthday celebration in Denmark. So I decided to be a copy-cat and have a get-together here in the New York of China. Also to feel less sad about a big family party without me... Just around the time where I had this thought I randomly came across Paul who's the PR manager at the stylish Australian eatery Kakadu. He invited me to come for some tastings of their new menu and I asked if I could bring 20 friends (:
Paul and the owner James put together an amazing menu and a good birthday deal for me and Saturday night we were 24 people who celebrated my birthday (and my sisters on a distance) while enjoying amazing Aussie food & wine. The Danish Crown Princess is Australian so Danish & Aussie has proven to be a perfect mix.
What's also super perfect is that Kakadu is both a stylish restaurant and a stylish bar - with happy hour 2 times everyday! So after our wine & dine session we went straight to the bar for 2 hours happy hour where several other people joined the party.
We had super good food and even though Kakadu is known for specialties like crocodile, kangaroo, Aussie beef and lamb, they dished up some amazing vegetarian options. I had an Australian cheese and beetroot stack which I'm still dreaming about... And I can't wait to go back soon and check out the regular Kakadu menu and enjoy more of their amazing food.
If you're looking into planning a private party, having a cozy night with good food, wine & drinks or just like a good happy hour drinks deal Kakadu is a spot you should check out.
Their prices are super reasonable, the service high over Shanghai standard and the food was yum!
