On the charming Nanchang Lu, side by side with some of the most local eateries serving street BBQ, mala tang noodles, stir fry & pork dumplings you will find nothing less but Spread The Bagel. Oh yes American Bagels in the heart of Shanghai's French Concession!
The boutique bagelry was founded in 2010 and has only been available as a pop-up cafe as part of Pantry on 205 Wulumuqi Lu and for delivery until this new location opened in the end of 2014. Apart from fresh good quality bread, Spread the Bagel are known for their home-made cream cheese spread and generously stuffed bagels!
If you order by 6pm you can have breakfast or lunch bagels delivered to your office the following days for a delivery fee of RMB 15 or RMB 25 in you're so lucky to be working in Shanghai's financial district Lujiazui. Or you can order through Sherpa's (do not be surprised if you have to queue with Sherpa's guys).
If you're having a Sweet tooth, Spread the Bagel's Loueatsmore Bagel is an absolute winner (Oh yes: Nutella, Banana & Almond). Developed by my good friend and Shanghai food blogger Louise.
Their bagels are absolute yummy and absolute filling! Only complaint from me is that they don't have whole-wheat bagels to choose. Maybe I'll copy Louise and ask Spread the Bagel to introduce a Shanghaihabits healthier bagel option! (:
