ECO and Consciousness is not the first words that come to mind when you think of Shanghai: China's New York with the most people in all of China and one of the biggest cities in the world. Too many people, too many cars, too much happening! Moreover, Shanghai is dealing with daily high level of air pollution and checking an air quality app before a run becomes part of daily life here.
Last weekend a company in Shanghai ignored this fact and invited me for their ECO day in Shanghai - a day inspired by ECO-consciousness. Ariel Rider offers Ebikes all over the world and soon also in Shanghai. Their cool bike can be used as a normal bike, it can run on only electricity or you can ride with a combination.
One of these designer bikes was delivered to my doorstep on Saturday morning and I went around Shanghai to experience life with an Ariel Rider Ebike in Shanghai.
ECO Day Fun
My sweet BF put on his new running shoes, I jumped on the Ariel Rider bike and we went out and about in Shanghai's French Concession. Though the air quality was against us we felt super ECO =) And had so much fun on the Ariel Rider eBike!
Happy Juices & Healthy Products (and vice versa)
Another part of the ECO day was discovering ECO conscious companies in Shanghai. I was introduced to 2 companies who participated in the ECO day - both which I know very well due to my exploring of a healthier Shanghai the last couple of years. Aaand both which I really like.
VCLEANSE offers 100% cold pressed juices as well as yummy milks (raw cashew & cinnamon, anyone?). They have a super cute concept where their juices are categorized after colors and they literally have something for every taste and purpose. I for example is not a big fan of sweet fruit juices but I loooooove veggie juices and I love the special natural milks. VCLEANSE combine the best of Western nutrition and Eastern tradition in their recipes and you can order an actual "cleanse" from them where you in one or several days only drink their juices.
The idea with a real cleanse is to put your body back to zero to really feel itself and its needs which can renew & rejuvenate your energy as well as improve diet and eating habits. I have not done a proper cleanse myself as I'm afraid of starvation haha but I can really recommend trying their green juices! (or use their amazing concept as inspiration for making your own juices):
GREEN - The Green is the backbone of a cleanse, and on average contains over 1 kg of a wide variety of leafy greens and green vegetables, with just a touch of fruit.
- CLASSIC GREEN Nine different types of vegetables and fruits, including spinach, romaine, cucumber, celery, apples, lemons and a touch of ginger.
- DARK GREEN Dark leafy greens from spinach to its more exotic cousins, with apples and a citrus twist.
- EASY GREEN Cucumber, mint, pineapple, and a touch of leafy greens.
- INTENSE GREEN Celery, cucumber, sprouts, romaine, and more! With a hint of mint and cayenne pepper.
The other company - Eco&more is a Personal care brand with plant based products that smells yummy! My favorite is their bodywash as well as handwash with eucalyptus. So fresh and so natural! I recently discovered they also have products for your home (and for your baby if you have one of those). A bit pricy but I feel really good about using their products! I find that Eco&More is one of the companies here in Shanghai that "walks the talk". They don't just put on a fancy name to make people associate them with ECO - they for example give customers 50% discount when they bring in their empty containers for a refill. Recycling when it's best!
At the end of the day I met up with Tatiana from Ariel Rider Ebike who's behind the initiative. I told her about my experiences and my view on both bike, juices, Eco products & ECO in general. The interview is on their Shanghai blog. They also made a small video clip about our day, so cute! The cool Ariel Rider Ebikes will be available in Shanghai next month so keep your eyes open for them in the streets and stay updated on their general website or Shanghai branch blog.
