Winter is here and though it's a mild winter again in Shanghai (so far) it's the perfect time for yummy nutritious hearty soups.
Nothing like home-cooked, absolutely no doubt about that, but let's face it with the pace of life in Shanghai it's not always possible or convenient getting the shopping, preparing & cooking done.
Thank God we have lots of yummy food options to choose from when eating out or taking home. One of the spots I visit quite often for lunch is Shanghai's official soup cafe: Urban Soup Kitchen. They specialize in different weekly soups (always both veggie & meaty options) and have super good deals for salad & soup combos or sandwich & soup combos.
Their prices are super good, soups are yummy and it's perfect for a quick lunch or dinner solution. You find the Urban Soup Kitchen at the following locations
1601 Nanjing Xi lu, near Changde Lu (in the REAL mall)
280 Madang lu, near Zizhong lu (Xintiandi)
1035 Kangding lu, near Yanping lu (Jing´an)
B106-1, 100 Shiji Da Dao, near Yincheng Zhong Lu (Lujiazui)
I've liked Urban Soup Kitchen since I arrived in Shnanghai 2 years ago but I have to admit that after me and my BF have been cooking lots of soups at home this year, I can really taste the different. Home-made vs. bulk-made. Should you find energy & time to cook up your own soup, you can see what soups we've been making the last months and find inspiration here.
