I'm currently planning next month to be super-duper Healthy.
Why? Because I love my health and I love being healthy and sometimes I need that new motivation & inspiration to maintain as well as develop my Healthy Habits. I believe we all do.
I'm not getting myself involved in any extreme diets or new gym addictions (been there done that, can't recommend it). Instead I am going to focus on Boosting Nutrition.
Winter is around the corner and as my fellow Shanghai expats are aware of, winter is not the absolute easiest time in this city... It can actually be pretty tough with high pollution numbers and cold-to-the-bone temperatures. So I believe a month of boosting nutrition and thus boosting my immune defense, my mood and my Healthy Habits can get me ready to attack this year's winter! Pick Me Up
My contribution to The Detox Express just had to be my favorite Pick Me Up Smoothie. And it of course contains Avocado which I am absolutely addicted to. It makes smoothies so Creamy, filling and more of a meal than a fruit sugar-rush!
My recipe is super easy with Avocado, Apple & Soymilk and you can buy a ready-to-blend-package here. Try to replace apples with persimmon (the one that looks like a tomato and taste sweeter than sweet) which are now in season and can be found everywhere in Shanghai. Banana is also a yummy one to add if you are looking for an extra creamy treat.
In my opinion a detox does not have to rime with forcing yourself to live on pure juices or lemons or carrots or whatever a "magic diet" has proscribed. I find that the best detox is a balanced and healthy one which focuses on filling your body & mind with natural nutrition through plant-based products. Lots of good fat (read: avocado, nuts & coconut oil), lots of greens & lots of (lemon) water. If you help and support your body in this way, its natural detox process will work magic!
So drink up those vitamins by incorporating smoothie or juice habits to your everyday life (I personally prefer smoothies in order to get the fruit & veggie fibers as well and not only sugar & vitamins)!
